Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries in 1966, after he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was utilized to lower and raise the hoist. This device greatly impressed customers and thus, the name was established.
Genie has moved into many new markets, because the demand for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, when the requirements for new machines to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. Like for instance, Genie went into production with stick booms, telehandlers, light towers, man-lifts and articulated booms.
Because of the economic recession during the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to obtain a partner who held the same values. They partnered up together with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining machine manufacturers across the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the early years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Hence, all Genie machinery continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their clients. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to lessening wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machinery.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy machines are emission-free, quiet equipment capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machine must be driven significant distances, like for instance within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator along with the benefits of a 48V DC equipment.
As opposed to any of the various types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide greater horizontal reach overall. These machines are ideal for limited access places in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These machines provide supreme traction and the drive speed you need in order to travel around the job area and work site.
