Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck normally goes by other names including: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of machinery are basically a motorized type of a pallet jack. They come in both "Walkie" models as well as "Rider" versions.
The walkie type as the name implies, is made to allow the operator to walk alongside the machine while they pick up and move loads. The operator stands on a small platform on the Rider model. The rider models are ideal for frequent moving of loads over extended distances in warehouses and manufacturing applications. They are really fast and maneuverable.
It is not recommended to pick up and move unstable or tall loads because there are no safety cages on these models. A rider could be the perfect answer if you are looking for an inexpensive method for moving cargo from one location to another. If though, you must transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model could be the right option.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece machinery designed specifically for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the operator and the load with a purpose to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Typically, the order selector is a very narrow aisle vehicle which can work in smaller aisles. They are really useful pieces of machinery during physical inventories as well as during cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more common.
