Inventor Jerome Case established the business of CASE within Racine, when he started the construction of threshing machines. Later the company gained recognition internationally as the initial manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural application. By the year 1912, Case had become established in the construction equipment industry. The rapidly started to produce road building equipment such as graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction machine company through various acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation during 1957. Case had expanded their business by the mid-1990s to become the top manufacturer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machines.
In the year 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This company became responsible for marketing several of the world's leading brands of agricultural and construction equipment.
