A type of device in the material handling business which can be used to raise and transport loads from one place to another is referred to as a forklift. Each forklift part has a particular function. Various parts can be used to transport the load horizontally or vertically.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the components which lift and lower the load. There are different kinds of masts for raising loads to various heights: simplex, duplex, triplex and quad.
Power Supply
There are four different ways you can power a forklift: gas, electric, propane and diesel. The battery is located within the cab beneath the seat. The propane tank is situated on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is under the rear of the truck.
Cab
Positioned in the center of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The steering wheel, gas pedal, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all located within the cab.
Frame
The frame of the truck carries all the largest components of the forklift, like the counterweights, that are located at the back in order to stop the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
