Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to store pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck comes in quite a few types: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The simplest kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is frequently used. This particular version has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not just slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This version is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Often more than one kind of reach truck is needed in warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and could maximize available storage space while increasing productivity.
