How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind when attempting to perform tasks which could have otherwise needed using the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular equipment make it the right option for carrying tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries will need to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any specialized tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machine near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button situated in the lift basket, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Usually, units that are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and next plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger could potentially occur.
